Brianna Braggs also known as Bri Joi is a R&B singer who is finding her way to reach the top. Bri Joi is from Plainfield, Illinois but still is influenced by Chicago due to the many opportunities that it has presented to her. There are so many factors that play a role in how Bri Joi identify herself as a person and an artist but not many people know that her ethnicity is one of these factors. Bri Joi is French Candian and African American which contributes to her artistry greatly. Other than her ethnicity there are various artists that influence her. These artists consist of Lauryn Hill, Ella Fitzgerald, Ella Mai, Tyler the Creator, Lucky Daye, Frank Ocean, and SZA. With these strong artists as her influencers you can hear it in her voice. Bri Joi’s voice is beautiful but she wasn’t always this serious about her music. Because of her mother and her manager, whom she met in Chicago, she has decided to take music to another level.
Although Bri Joi has just decided to take her music to another level she wasn’t always sure about her music. Working with an artist by the name of Zreign helped her get out her comfort zone slowly. Though this took a while she did it and she is succeeding. She has multiple covers on her instagram page and you can hear the growth in each one. As Bri Joi grows as an artist she wants to encourage people and remind them that they have the ability to accomplish whatever they want. In addition to this message she wants to highlight her experience of being bi-racial and stress how important inclusion and diversity is. This is very important because inclusion is needed everywhere.
As an artist Bri Joi has gained a love for the arts. She describes art as everyone has their way of perceiving it but it can never be wrong due to the fact that everyone can see it however they want. With that being said it doesn’t matter what anyone says about your art because it holds a special place in your heart. If she was to give advice to another artist it would be to never be nervous and let yourself go because it pays off with time.
