Each Brush Saves a Life

Writer's picture: Ari SimoneAri Simone

Art is an escape from the real world to enter the fuzzy void of emotions that we do not address. Painter Jansen Buchanan shows that entering that fuzzy void can potentially save your peace or your life. He epitomizes this through his own experience on how he started painting.

Jansen Buchanan is a painter from Lansing, Illinois. Buchanan always had a bright future ahead but he didn't notice this at first. Learning more about his story you learn it isn't a story of rags to riches but a story of learning your self worth and worth in your talent. Jansen Buchanan had a time in his life where he didn't take his gift seriously. He would only paint for school assignments and family members but nothing more. Buchanan painted for others instead for himself. Painting for others led him down a toxic path. He started taking other actions to temporarily fix his pain until he started painting for himself.

Once Jansen Buchanan started painting for himself he learned he was talented and made painting a hobby in early 2019. With his talent he has been working on numerous of paintings and telling stories through his paintings. Buchanan shows that once you gain belief and confidence in your art it doesn't matter what other people think. You have to use your talent for yourself and hopefully your message impacts someone a long the way. Throughout his journey Jansen Buchanan came to the realization that in the future he want to open up his own gallery. Within this gallery he wants to teach children about the importance of art. His lesson consists of teaching children that they can make something beautiful for themselves and others in this sometimes ugly world.

If the story of Jansen Buchanan didn't inspire you to get up and work on that project you've been working or get up and share your talent with the world hopefully his advice for new artist will. Buchanan advise new artist to be honest with your art. Honest work can help yourself and help breathe life in others. Keeping that in mind work on everything with your best foot forward and work with transparency.
