Being locked in the house during a pandemic can be very stressful and cause some anxiety. For those who may need a release try an artistic release or artistic cleanse to help cope with the coronavirus or Ms. Rona. Maybe during your quarantine, you will finally work on that project you've been wanting to work on or explore another side of yourself artistically. Whatever you do with these numerous days of summer vacation don't be a Candance Flynn grab your ace and be a Phineas and Ferb. With that being said don't just make that project you're going to work on meaningful be something meaning so that your art will be timeless. In order to do that here are a few suggestions or tips for new and OG creatives.

Trust The Process

Many times artists/ creatives get into their own heads when working on a project and tend to forget to trust the process. It is natural to want the final project to be perfect but there may be some twists and turns to get there. The product may not be exactly what you want it could be a loop in there that could make it better. So do not worry if your project isn't done by the time you want it done or if it's not how you wanted to be. Put your artist intuition into the process and make a masterpiece, not something sped up and all over the place.

Mean Something To You

It is okay to make art for other people but make sure you make art for yourself. Once you make art for yourself a better understanding of why you're doing what you're doing will come along. I cannot stress this enough IF YOU ARE NOT INTO IT THE PROJECT WILL NOT COME! Do not push yourself to make something if you do not feel it. I do not care if Martin Luther King or Malcolm X came back from the dead, put you at gunpoint, and said: "make this or else I'll kill you." If the piece means nothing to you it will not have the same impact as something that means something to you.

The Audience Will Follow

Do not underestimate your work. If you put your best foot forward and your work means something to you an audience will follow. D-Vo (first artist featured in the weekly spotlight) always told me, "Don't doubt yourself or your work it isn't about others but if you enjoy it. If you enjoy your craft then everything else will fall in place." I hate to say it I really do but if you're confident in your work the audience will follow you how the school followed Regina George in Mean Girls. Moral of the story trust yourself as an artist you have something to give the world.

Keep it Moving

Everyone is going to have something to say. It never fails someone will say something but learn how to take the helpful critiques to better your art. Leave the negative comments and tell the haters "Bye Felicia." All constructive criticism can help you with your next project so never ignore it!

Creatives 4 Creatives

Lastly, reach out to other local creatives. Doing this can start a brand new project that can impact yourself and others around you. Not only that but create a new and improved way to network. You never know who can help your art get somewhere you never knew it could be before. Also, creatives need to be for each other because not everyone will see eye to eye with you as an artist. Other creatives can help you get out your rut and help you better your art and help persevere your energy as an artist.

Now that you have your tips hopefully your CVOID-19 quarantine will give yourself the chance to be impacted as an artist.
